NITISH BELURKAR BAGS RCC INTERNATIONAL FIDE RATED RAPID CHESS TITLE

IM Nitish Belurkar of Goa won the 24th RCC International FIDE rated Rapid Chess Tournament held in Mangalore. A total of 593 players from 6 countries took part in this tournament. 

Nitish defeated IM Murali Krishnan B T, AIM Advaith Babu , Rahul V S and Nitin Babu amongst others; while drawing the last round with IM Sanket Chakravarti to remain undefeated on 8.5 points out of 9 to be crowned the champion. 

Nitish also put up a good performance in the Blitz category to score 11 points out of 13 and was placed third.

Among the other Goan players,  Mandar Lad put up a great performance scoring 7.5 points out of 9 in the Rapid section to be placed 13th and scoring 10.5 out of 13 in the Blitz section to be placed 5th. Datta Kambli and Rishikesh Parab scored 7 points each to be placed 19th and 26th respectively in the rapid section. 

Rishikesh Parab also scored 10 points to be placed 11th in the Blitz section. Rishikesh Parab gained a handsome 114 points rating gain in Blitz due to his fine performance. Anish Naik with 6.5 points was in 37th place in the Rapid section.
