The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) and the Goa State Higher Education Council (GSHEC) officially inaugurated the second series of the year-long Academic Leadership Programme (ALP) today, aimed at equipping senior faculty with advanced skills in academic professionalism, governance, and technology integration.
The inaugural function held at the GSCERT complex, was formally launched by Bhushan Savaikar, Director of the Directorate of Higher Education. The ceremony was graced by the presence of key resource persons, including Dr. D H Rao and Prof Dr. Niyan Marchon, Program Director and Coordinator of ALP.
The ALP is designed as a continuous capacity-building initiative, spanning an academic year, in collaboration with various corporate and academic partners nationwide. This specific series, scheduled from November 3rd to 8th, 2025, brings together a select cohort of 30 experienced Professors and Associate Professors from Government, Aided, and Engineering Institutions across Goa.
The intensive six-day workshop features nationally recognised experts covering three critical domains essential for modern academic leadership.
1. November 3rd and 4th session by Dr. D. H. Rao, Ex-Professor at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka, and an expert in NLP, leading sessions on Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) for Academic Professionalism and Leadership.
2. November 5th and 6th session by Dr. Suresh Namboothiri, Co-founder and Director of Espoir Technologies, Pune, who will conduct modules titled Thrive in the Generative AI Era: Unlocking the Hidden Potential of OBE, NEP 2020 on Indian Knowledge System (IKS).
3. November 7th and 8th by Dr. K. V. Gangadharan, Professor and Dean (Planning and Development) at NITK Surathkal, India, who will focus on Data Analytics for High-Level Decision Making and Management.
This comprehensive curriculum highlights the commitment of the DHE and GSHEC to align Goa’s higher education institutions with the transformational goals set forth by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The training modules are specifically tailored to foster institutional excellence and strategic management among the state’s senior academic leaders.
The inaugural programme proceedings were smoothly conducted and compèred by Dr. Rupali Tamuly and Dr. Vinod Joshwa George. The ALP II is coordinated by Prof.(Dr.) Niyan Marchon and Vasant Narulkar , DHE.
