Goa is an ideal place to achieve goals in any field, including that in the cooperative sector, said Minister for Co-operation, Subhash Shirodkar at the inaugural function of the 72nd All India Cooperative Week 2025 organised by the Department of Cooperation in collaboration with the Goa State Cooperative Union Ltd, Panaji, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Goa State Cooperative Bank Ltd. in Panaji.
Shirodkar said that it is important to introspect, on how much has been achieved and how much more needs to be done he said stressing on the importance of digitisation and computerisation of records.
A State-level committee has been formed to formulate the Goa State Cooperation Policy 2025 in alignment with the National Cooperation Policy 2025. Emphasising on the need to ensure co-operative societies are registered, Shirodkar said this was vital in order to avail of benefits and legislative welfare measures.
Year 2025 has been designated by the United Nations as the ‘International Year of Cooperatives. The Cooperative Week celebrations are being held from November 14 to 20, 2025 in the state.
Sharad Narahar Gangal, Chairperson of TJSB Bank and Satish Marathe, were keynote speakers for the occasion; and spoke on the topic ‘Promoting Digitisation to enhance operation efficiency, accountability and transparency’.
Secretary (Cooperation), Yatindra Maralkar, IAS, was also present. Also present were Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Additional Secretary to the Government, Ashutosh Apte among others.
