The World STEM and Robotics Olympiad (WSRO) National Championship 2026, hosted by Qurious Mind at Peddem Indoor Stadium, Mapusa, on 26 and 27 September, brought together over 1,200 participants from more than 12 states across India for two days of competition, creativity and hands-on learning.
With 400 registered teams representing over 82 schools, supported by 250 mentors and teachers, the championship showcased young talent in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and robotics. The estimated overall turnout exceeded 2,500, including participants, mentors, teachers, parents, spectators and other visitors.
The opening ceremony was graced by WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza among others. Across 16 keenly-contested competitions, students demonstrated technical skills, teamwork, problem-solving and innovation.
Events included line-following challenges, Robo Race, LEGO challenges, robotics.construction, STEM Balloon Car, Young Scientist and entrepreneurship competitions. A special attraction was the drone-flying competition,
which tested participants’ flying skills and precision.
The first day featured qualifying rounds, with competition continuing into the second day through advanced rounds and finals, including the Young Scientist event. Students put their designs and ideas to the test, refined their approaches and competed alongside peers from across the country.
Several Goan students won prizes, adding to the host state’s achievements at the national championship. The closing and prize-distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Subhash Shirodkar, Gopal Maheshwari, Devendra Parmar and Dhruv Patel of WSRO.
The championship reflected Qurious Mind’s commitment to making robotics accessible and affordable, while providing students with opportunities to learn, collaborate and demonstrate their abilities on a national platform.
