GOA-IDC & KTCL LAUNCH INTERNAL BUS SERVICE AT VERNA INDUSTRIAL ESTATE

Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) in collaboration with Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL), have launched an internal bus service at Verna Industrial Estate to strengthen intra estate connectivity for Industrial workers. The service was formally flagged off by the Chairman, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, at the Verna Industrial Estate office.

The flag off ceremony was attended by Pravimal Abhishek, IAS, Managing Director, Goa Industrial Development Corporation, Mahendra Pednekar, General Manager, Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited, Kalpak Arware, President of Verna Industrial Association, members of the Executive Committee of the Verna Industrial Estate Association and Pradip da Costa, President of the Goa State Industries Association.

The service will be operated by Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited and will run daily from 06:30 AM to 10:30 PM. The bus will operate on a continuous loop starting from Titan Junction, covering key areas across the industrial estate, and returning to Titan Junction, thereby functioning as a closed-circuit service for workers.

A flat fare of ₹10 has been fixed for the service. Goa Industrial Development Corporation will provide viability gap funding to support operations. At present, one bus has been deployed under this initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco stated that “Theintroduction of this bus service will significantly benefit industrial workers by improving their mobility within the estate. He further noted that the initiative will contribute to the well-being of workers, enhance productivity, and support MSMEs in the industrial estate”.

Pradip da Costa, President of the Goa State Industries Association, stated that the service addresses a long pending demand of the industry. He highlighted that the early morning operations will be particularly beneficial for workers reporting for the 07:00 AM shift and will improve workforce movement across the estate, especially for women workers. He further observed that additional buses may be required in the future based on demand.

The initiative has been launched as a pilot service and will be reviewed based on operational performance and user feedback.
