FC Goa went down 0-2 to Corbett FC in their morning match at the Don Bosco grounds in Margao on Monday on the second day of the ongoing, Dream Sports championship-AIFF junior league being held in south Goa.
Corbett FC displaying a faster, better coordinated game always had the local team on the backfoot as they hammered both their winning goals in the first half of the match.
Mohammed Taha ( 16th min) and Mohammed Fahim ( 44th min) were the goalscorers for Corbett FC. In the other morning match, defending champion Punjab FC beat Reliance Foundation Youth Champs (RFYC) 3-2.
The fact, that Punjab hammered three goals in the first half ( Jasmeet Singh 25th and 33rd min and Pratham Kumar, 41st min) was ample proof of their domination. Reliance reduced the margin dramatically in the dying minutes through the two goals shot by Ayman Bilal in the 92nd and 94th minute.
In the evening matches, FC Madras 3 (Avijit Mondal, Rupam Seal, Sreeram Neogi) beat Classic FA 1(C Kharibam) with a strong, all-round performance, while Alchemy Academy shocked the reputed, Mohun Bagan team 1-0 in a tight contest, with Sourish Nair scoring the winner in the 42nd minute.
