FC Goa beat FC Madras 2-0 in convincing fashion to register the first win of a local team on the fourth day of the Dream Sports Championships-AIFF junior league being held in South Goa.
In the evening match played at the Raia panchayat grounds, FC Goa controlled the proceedings throughout the match to give little chance to the visitors. For FC Goa, Shlok Govekar ( 34th min) and Trinsly Menezes ( 72nd min) were the goal scorers.
In the second match of the evening, Kolkata heavyweights, Mohun Bagan easily vanquished Reliance Foundation 3-1 on the Don Bosco grounds, leading by one goal at half-time. Sayan Halder opened the scoring for the Kolkata team in the 27th minute, while captain Rajdeep Paul scored two goals in the 47th and 92nd minute. Subhrajit Pramanick of Reliance reduced the margin in the 73rd minute via a penalty kick.
The morning matches saw Alchemy International ( Bengaluru) hold defending champions Punjab FC to a surprise, 1-1 draw on the Don Bosco grounds. Tharun Dev scored for Alchemy in the 11th minute, while Ayush Koul equalized for Punjab in the 17th minute via a penalty kick.
In the other morning game on the Raia grounds, Classic FA edged past Corbett FC 2-1 in a closely contested match. A. Pari Singh and Ayush Thokchom scored for Classic in the 27th and 84th minute, while Mohammed Taha reduced the margin for Corbett FC in the 70th minute.
