Anaya Shukla, Shaurya Dessai, Tvisha Kotkar and Vanlalhriapuii booked their places in the girls under-11 semi-finals on the opening day of the 2nd All-Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, organised by Ponda Table Tennis Sports Club under the aegis of the Goa Table Tennis Association at Sports Complex, Ponda.
In the quarter-finals, Anaya defeated Sanaz Shaikh 3-0, Shaurya edged past Claire George 3-2, Tvisha overcame Tasha Mascarenhas 3-2, while Vanlalhriapuii registered a comfortable 3-0 victory over Swara Gude.
In the Girls Under-13 category, the Round of 16 witnessed wins for Sachi Desai, Vanlalhriatpuii, Inara D’Souza, Shaurya Dessai, Lalruatsangi, Vanlalrinzuali, Anaya Shukla and Tisha Shaikh, who all progressed to the quarter-finals.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Virendra Dhavalikar, Chairperson of the Ponda Municipal Council, prominent sports promoter Bhaskar Khandeparkar, organising club president Vishwanath Dalvi, councillor Shaunak Borkar, organising club member Amogh Namshikar among others.
