An Interface Meeting between ICAR-CCARI, Goa and Department of Agriculture, Goa, on “Research–Extension–Farmer Linkages” was organised on (Wednesday) June 24, 2026 at ICAR-CCARI, Goa, under Khet Bachao Abhiyan. Dr. Manohara K.K., Director (In-charge), ICAR-CCARI, Goa, underscored the importance of climate-resilient technologies.
Dr. Manohara elaborated on technologies developed by the Institute and provided a roadmap for upcoming technologies, specifically regarding improved cashew and rice varieties. Nitin Bakhale, Deputy Director (Crop Science and Plant Protection), Department of Agriculture, Government of Goa, emphasised that collaborative synergies between ICAR-CCARI and the Department of Agriculture are essential to resolving practical problems faced by farmers.
Chandrahas K. Desai, Managing Director, Goa State Horticultural Corporation Limited (GSHCL), stressed the need for improving the shelf life of vegetable crops, noting that targeted research in this direction would significantly benefit farmers.
Dr. Shripad Bhat, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CCARI, Goa, welcomed the dignitaries and participants, establishing the context by highlighting the importance of this interface meeting for mutual learning and knowledge sharing. He delivered a comprehensive presentation showcasing the latest technological developments, improved crop varieties, and climate-resilient solutions developed by the Institute.
Dr. Gopal Mahajan, Senior Scientist (Soil Science) and PME Coordinator, further detailed the climate-resilient technologies related to natural resource management.
The technical interaction and discussion on specific agenda items were co-chaired by Dr. Manohara K.K. and Nitin Bakhale, with active participation from 80 participants which included scientists and officials representing the Department of Agriculture.
Detailed deliberations were held on emerging agricultural technologies, climate-resilient farming, the promotion of low-cost natural inputs, utilization of bio-fertilizers and bio-control agents, soil health management, and strategies to attract and retain rural youth in the sector through market-oriented skill development and innovative agripreneurship programmes.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. N. Bommayasamy, Senior Scientist & Head, ICAR-KVK, North Goa, who thanked the line departments, scientists, and participants for their constructive contributions toward developing an implementation roadmap.
