Devesh Naik won Mahadev Prabhudesai and Pramila Prabhudesai Memorial All Goa Open Rapid Chess Tournament; organised by Pratibha Friends Circle’s Pratibha Sports Club in collaboration with Ponda Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of Goa Chess Association, at Shree Navdurga temple hall, Borim.
Atharv Katkar was the runner-up while Satyam Phal secured the 3rd place. Nathan Cardozo, Ayush Naik, Rejmon Fernandes, Rishit Gawas, Sarthak Naik, Shaurya Salgaonkar, Sidhiraj Gaunkar, Kavish Gharse, Avnish Borker, Sathvik Kerkar, Shashwat Upadhye, Maanas Phal, Mayank Kurtikar, Nishesh Gaude, Aryan Desai, Aarush Nachinolkar and Adarsh Patekar finished respectively in the following positions – 4th to 20th place.
The consolation prizes were awarded as follows: U15 open: Padmanabh Naik, Nagesh Nayak; U13 open: Dhruv Desai, Aarna Sawant; U11 open: Shubhan Dhume, Nityam Gaude; U9 open: Joash Cardozo, Shrihan Chougale; U7 open: Ojas Kamat, Yashvin Gaude; Best unrated: Vansh Govekar; Best Veteran (Above 60): Dattaprasad Desai.
Adv. Narendra Sawaikar, Commissioner for NRI Affairs, Govt. of Goa, was the Chief Guest and presented the prizes in the presence of Sagar Naik (Sarpanch, Village Panchayat Borim); Vishwas Prabhudesai (President, Pratibha Sports Club), Baseball coach Dilip Naik, Pradosh Desai, Sagar Sakordekar (President, Ponda Taluka Chess Association), Chief Arbiter Arvind Mhamal and Vishwambar Devari (Vice-President, Pratibha Friends circle). Dilip Naik was also felicitated during the function.
