PROJECT VRIDDHI: VISL SUPPORTS SPORTS IN SCHOOL

Creating greater opportunities for students to excel beyond academics, Vedanta Iron and Steel Limited (VISL) – Iron Ore Goa (IOG) has supported Government High School, Mulgao with sports equipment under Project ‘Vriddhi’. The initiative, expected to benefit around 100 students, aims to encourage regular participation in sports while promoting physical well-being, teamwork, confidence and leadership skills.

The sports equipment was handed over to Government High School, Mulgao , in the presence of Suhasini Govekar, Sarpanch, VP Mulgao, Dhiraj Kumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO, VISL–IOG, Swati Arondekar, Headmistress, Government High School, Mulgao, PTA members, teachers and students and along with other VISL-IOG executives.

Speaking on the occasion, Dhiraj Kumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO, VISL–Iron Ore Goa, said, “At VISL–Iron Ore Goa, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom. Sports play a vital role in shaping confident, disciplined and resilient individuals while promoting overall well-being. Through Project ‘Vriddhi’, we are committed to creating opportunities that enable students to develop their potential and pursue their aspirations with confidence.”

Project ‘Vriddhi’ is one of VISL–IOG’s flagship education initiatives focused on creating an enabling learning environment for students across its operational communities. Through sustained interventions in education, infrastructure and student development, the project currently benefits over 2,000 students, strengthening learning outcomes and nurturing future aspirations.

Expressing her thoughts on the initiative, Swati Arondekar, Headmistress, Government High School, Mulgao, said, “The sports materials provided under Project ‘Vriddhi’ have greatly encouraged our students to participate in sports and physical activities. We sincerely thank VISL–Iron Ore Goa for its continued support in creating a healthier and more engaging learning environment for our children.”

VISL promotes empowerment through education and sports with its initiatives such as the Sesa Football Academy, Sesa Technical School, and Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarships among others.

The SFA also has a residential football training program and has produced over 230 footballers with 14 having represented India. It also supports women football with the Vedanta Women’s League which has seen a cumulative footfall of over 1400 players, along with this the company regularly supports initiatives such as the Republic Run and the Maem Marathon. Further promoting early education initiatives, the Company also supports aanganwadis as part of its Nand Ghar program.
