GOA STATE SUB-JUNIOR BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: LIBANIA CAGERS & LOYOLA REACH BOYS FINAL; DBSA FATORDA & ST. MARY’S CLASH FOR GIRLS TITLE

Libania Cagers, Margao edged past DBSA Fatorda 23-19 in a thrilling boys’ semi-final that went into overtime, in a closely fought contest at the Group Priority State Sub-Junior Basketball Championship 2026.

Libania trailed at different stages but produced a strong finish to force the match into extra time, where they outscored DBSA 6-2 to seal victory. The quarter scores were 5-2, 2-3, 3-8 and 7-4, followed by the decisive 6-2 overtime period.

Deshawn led Libania Cagers with 11 points, while Aarav Dessai top-scored for DBSA Fatorda with 10 points, supported by Quninton Costa with 5 points. In the other boys’ semi-final, Loyola recorded a commanding 43-0 victory over Lourdes Basketball Club, with Adriel Rosario producing an outstanding 27-point performance and Kurt D’Silva adding 10 points.

In the girls’ semi-finals, DBSA Fatorda defeated The Sunshine Worldwide 28-18 to book their place in the final. Eva Mascarenhas led the scoring for DBSA with an impressive 20 points, while Jaezel Barreto contributed 8. Alya Shaikh and Kiara Mendonca were the leading scorers for Sunshine with 7 and 5 points respectively.

St. Mary’s GHS defeated Unplugged Achievers-B, Aldona 20-0 in the other semi-final, with Cheryl Carrasco and Riya Singh scoring 6 points each for the winners. The championship is organised by Aliens Basketeers in association with Goa Basketball Association and is being held at Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim.
