Top seed Michael Mare, defending title contender Amaira Dhumatker and rising Ponda talent Pratik Naik Borkar kept their title ambitions firmly on track as the State Badminton Ranking Tournament 2026 entered a crucial stage at the Indoor Stadium, Campal. Michael Mare brushed aside Varun Sahakari 15-6, 15-6 in the U13 Boys’ quarterfinals, while Pratik Naik Borkar produced a confident 15-11, 15-6 win over fifth seed Mihir Chafadkar.
Vedh Lotliker defeated Ayansh Sanke 15-7, 15-7, while Anav Kannekar came through a three-game battle against fourth seed Shourya Sinari, 11-15, 15-12, 15-11. In U11 Girls, top seed Amaira Dhumatker was ruthless in a 15-1, 15-0 win over Oorvi Khyalia, with third seed Yashika Koneru, Saachi Sinai Kenkre and eighth seed Anvitha Poojari also advancing.
The U11 Boys’ quarterfinals saw top seed Shloke Utagi survive a stern challenge from Sambhav Bhardwaj, winning 15-7, 11-15, 15-10. Mahipal Sinh Parmar, Priyansh Sawant Dessai and Aariketh Chari also progressed to the semifinals. In the U9 sections, top seeds Rafael Anacleto De Ataide and Oorvi Khyalia advanced to the Boys’ and Girls’ semifinals respectively, with Divyam Singh and Samaira Velip completing the respective last-four line-ups.
Ayansh Sanke–Michael Ryan Mare, Pratik P Naik Borkar–Varun Sahakari, Amaira Dhumatker–Komal Kothari and Anvitha Poojari–Ashbah Tahasildar entered the U13 doubles finals on the opening day on Sunday. Ayansh–Michael Ryan (4) beat Rajveer Patil–Viaan Redkar 16-14, 15-12, while Pratik–Varun edged second seeds Mihir Chafadkar–Vedh Lotliker 14-16, 15-12, 17-15. In Girls’ U13, Amaira–Komal (3) defeated Aditi Dhargalkar–Kanika Pai Vernekar 15-7, 15-5, while Anvitha–Ashbah overcame second seeds Nishka Gauns Dessai–Tirtha Shetkar 15-13, 15-9.
The U11 doubles finalists were also decided, with Mahipal Sinh Parmar–Priyansh Sawant Dessai (4) and Aariketh Chari–Venanzio Fernandes (2) winning their semifinals 15-13, 15-5 against Sambhav Bhardwaj–Shloke Utagi and Namish Revankar–Srihaan Dessai respectively. In Girls’ U11, Saachi Sinai Kenkre–Yashika Koneru (3) beat Pavi Nair–Shreenika Desai 15-2, 15-4, while Oorvi Khyalia–Samaira Velip defeated second seeds Meher Aghicha–Shanaya Sah 15-5, 15-4.
The tournament is organised by Sunlite Sports and Cultural Club in aegis with the Goa Badminton Association. It was inaugurated in the presence of GBA Secretary Praveen Shenoy, Organising President Deelip Halarnkar, Tournament Director Govind Navelkar, Referee Aman Raut Dessai, veteran promoter Kashinath Jalmi and Club members Arnold Rodrigues, Bhushan Vernekar, Marina Albuquerque and Bhalchandra Phadte, among others.
