Goa College of Agriculture with support from the North Goa District Mineral Foundation (Trust) organised a training programme for farmers from North Goa mining-affected areas on “Capacity Building, Production and Utilization of Biofertilizers and Biopesticides for Farmers of North Goa Mining-Affected Area”
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Ratnakant Govenker, Dy. Director(Mines) & Member-Secretary(NGDMFT); Dr. Suresh Kunkalikar, Principal, Goa College of Agriculture; Dr. Govind Parab, Asst. Professor and Dr. Sachin Tendulkar, CEO, Mineral Foundation of Goa and PMU to DMF.
The training sessions were conducted by Dr. Govind Parab, Assistant Professor, Department of Horticulture; Shashank Naik, Assistant Professor, Department of Entomology; and Satish Patil of Goa College of Agriculture.
More than 30 farmers, particularly from Surla village of Bicholim taluka, participated in the programme. Expert-led theoretical sessions, hands-on training and a field visit provided valuable insights into the production and utilization of biofertilizers and biopesticides. The initiative aims to promote sustainable and eco-friendly agricultural practices, strengthen farmers’ technical knowledge, and reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides in crop production.
