Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), in collaboration with the Government of Goa, has announced the 3rd edition of Aakash Kandil (lantern-making) competition as part of the 57th International Film Festival of India, Goa 2026 (IFFI 2026). This initiative celebrates Goa’s rich cultural heritage, fostering creativity and community spirit through a stunning showcase of traditional and innovative lantern designs.
Participation Criteria:
The competition is open to all residents of Goa. They have to make Aakash Kandil using eco-friendly material, except thermacol with the theme of IFFI mascot ‘Peacock.’
A maximum of 600 entries will be allowed with a cap of 50 entries per Taluka, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each participant will receive ₹500 as a token of appreciation for their effort and creativity. The Last date of registration is 17th November 2026 by 5 pm.
The Aakash Kandils must be submitted on 25th November between 9.30 am to 12:30 pm at ESG office. ESG will provide holders, bulbs, and electricity connections for display purposes.
Judging and Rewards:
Selection Process: Three winners will be chosen from each taluka, and they will receive prestigious prizes as recognition of their craftsmanship. First prize- Rs10,000, Second prize– Rs. 8000, third prize– Rs 5000 for each taluka.
