For residents of Sindhudurg and neighbouring regions, in South Maharashtra, reaching Mumbai, located around 500 kms away, has traditionally meant undertaking a lengthy journey by road or rail.
That is set to change from November 16, when Goa-headquartered pure play regional airline FLY91 begins daily flights connecting Sindhudurg with Navi Mumbai. The airline has opened bookings for the service.
FLY91 is currently the only airline operating from Sindhudurg and the new service will re-establish a direct air connection between the district and the Mumbai region, addressing a longstanding demand among local residents. The route also delivers much-awaited business and administrative connectivity from Sindhudurg to the state and financial capital, and offers visitors from the Mumbai region easier access to Sindhudurg and its tourism attractions.
Navi Mumbai is FLY91’s 14th destination and its fifth in Maharashtra, alongside Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Solapur and Pune. The regional airline is building a network that connects emerging cities with economic, tourism and pilgrimage centres across India.
