PANAJI: Forum for Innovation Incubation Research & Entrepreneurship (FIIRE) has announced ‘Goa Tourism Accelerator 2021‘ – a programme that will provide growth opportunities for startups with solution for the state tourism ecosystem.
Based at Don Bosco College of Engineering campus at Fatorda (South Goa), FIIRE has invited startups that have a solution for Goa Tourism Ecosystem, to apply for its accelerator programme.
“We realised it takes an ecosystem to tackle the challenges in the Tourism ecosystem. We are looking to rebuild and re-emerge from the crisis while the world is still battling the pandemic along with the smart entrepreneurs in the country,” says a statement by FIIRE.
Goa Tourism Accelerator 2021 is a 16-week accelerator program for startup founders who are developing solutions to future-proof the travel, tourism and hospitality industry and thrive amidst the challenges brought about by COVID-19. This programme will help redefine the GTM strategy for startups with some traction or apply their solution to the industry for the first time.
Goa Tourism Department, Govt of Goa; TTAG, DST, Kerala Startup Mission and 100x VC are the partners.
“Of all the affected industries in the Covid-19 pandemic, the travel & tourism industry appears to have taken the hardest hit globally, impacting various associated sectors. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTCC), the Covid-19 pandemic is likely to cost the tourism industry almost USD 22 billion and a loss of nearly 50 million jobs worldwide. Goa tourism alone suffered a loss of Rs 2,000-7,200 cr in 2020. We are looking to rebuild and re-emerge from the crisis while the world is still battling the pandemic. We realised it takes an ecosystem to tackle the challenges,” says the programme note on the forum’s website.
