PANAJI: Goa’s Dayne Coelho and Pearl Colvalkar bagged silver medal apiece at the Senior National Sailing Championships in Mumbai.
Dayne clinched the Silver Medal in the RS:X Olympic Class event while 15-year-old Pearl Colvalcar won the Silver Medal in the Laser Radial Class in women’s event.
The competition was one of the selection trials for the Asian Games 2022 and the top-2 in each category, will be selected to represent India at the Asian Sailing Championships 2022.
Pearl’s achievement of finishing second only to Nethra Kumanan, who represented India at the Tokyo Olympics, has put the talented teenager in contention to represent India at the Asian Sailing Championships 2022.
Dayne, who has already represented India at the Asian Games 2018 Jakarta, is being looked as a prospect for Paris 2024 Olympics qualification and eagerly awaits the disbursement of Goa Government’s grant of Rs 30 lakh under the scheme ‘Achieving Excellence in Sports at International level’; added a press release by Goa Yachting Association.
