PANAJI: Joy Kakodkar won Tiswadi Taluka Open Rapid Chess Tournament organised by Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association in collaboration with Mahalaxmi Hindu Vachan Mandir at Mala here on Sunday. He remained undefeated and scored 6.5 points from a total of 7 rounds.
WCM Swera Braganca finished second with a score of 5.5 points while Love Kakodkar was placed third with 5 points.
Other prize-winners from 4th to 10th place respectively were Pratik Borkar, Vedant Angle, Arya Dublay, Shreyash Hawal, Varad Shirodkar, Aiden Jesus Savio Grao and Tushar K.
U7, U9, U11, & U13 boys and girls category prize-winners are as follows: Aditya Dublay, Vihaan Tari, Aryan Banerjee, Ethan Silveira, Nathan Facho, Lyia Silveira, Mrugaja Sardesai, Rayden Frank, Dharmaditya Naik, Shrivalli Gandhi, Kamakshi Manerkar, Atharv Nitin Narayan, Soham Raikar, Alana Andrade and Veeraja Dessai.
The tournament was sponsored by Angle family in the memory of Late Balkrishna Shiva Pai Angle. Cash prizes worth Rs 8000 and trophies were presented at the hands of chief guest Avdhoot Angle in the presence of Shivaji Aras, Mahesh Candolkar, President of TTCA, Dattaram Pinge, Secretary of TTCA, Arvind Mhamal Chief Arbiter, Dnyaneshwar Naik, Satyawan Harmalkar, Vishwas Pilankar, Naresh Pednekar, Nandhini Saripalli Mhamal.
