PANAJI: Subash Sahoo’s Hindi film ‘Teen Adhyay’ is an attempt to infuse positivity into the society that is battered by negativity in the raging Covid-19 pandemic.

An acclaimed multiple national award-winning sound-designer having worked on 130 films for over two decades, Sahoo made his first appearance at the IFFI with his third film in the form of a wonderfully postive message of hope via ‘Teen Adhyay’.

“During the lockdown when the whole world had come to a standstill as there was too much negativity around, I could see how much the outer world impacted sub-conscious and conscious mind unknowingly. My 12 years old son could not continue to do his running practice outside and he was now trapped at home. It was as if we didn’t have anything despite having everything! All the things on TV, radio were about Covid deaths and repeated negativity,” explained the Mumbai-based Sahoo about his experience that triggered this subject idea portrayed in the film ‘Teen Adhyay’.

“At this point, I realised that a crow comes to a window of my home and twig by twig, it was building a nest. I could see the process and suddenly I forgot what was going on in the world. I also noticed my son was also getting attracted to it, and the transformation from him as he had a smile on his face! As the process continued, the crow laid eggs and then came out new chicks. In the process, I saw the season change. The entire duration that I followed this process was around four to five months . And towards the end, one of the five chicks, died, ” disclosed Sahoo putting into perspective ‘Teen Adhyay’ as in the three chapters of our life-cycle where genesis, calamity and continuity are the three ultimate facts. The film is without any dialogues and relies on ‘Ragas’ with three different music directors for each chapter, to communicate the emotions.
