The 13th Foundation Day of the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) was celebrated at CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), Goa, recently.
The celebration, organised by the AcSIR Science Club under the guidance of Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh, Director, CSIR-NIO, Goa, began with an interactive session titled “Speak with impact: Building a confident personality and mastering communication skills”, delivered by Prof. Karuna Satardekar, Associate Professor at GVM’s Dr. Dada Vaidya College of Education, Ponda, Goa. Through real-life examples, anecdotes, and engaging activities, Prof. Satardekar encouraged the students to develop self-awareness, articulate their thoughts with clarity, and overcome stage fear.
A special address by Prof. Manoj Kumar Dhar, Director, AcSIR, highlighting the achievements and legacy of AcSIR, was screened during the event. Dr. Narsinh L. Thakur, AcSIR Coordinator at NIO, presented the achievements of AcSIR and highlighted the various academic and extracurricular activities conducted under the AcSIR School of Oceanography at the NIO.

Dr. Rudraswami, Associate Dean of Physical Sciences, AcSIR, graced the occasion and shared their valuable insights and guidance with the participants.
AcSIR alumni from the NIO centre shared their reflections and experiences from their PhD journey under the AcSIR program. Dr. Tejasino Sukharie, a distinguished AcSIR alumna, shared her journey and motivated research scholars to strive for excellence in their pursuits.
Prizes were also distributed at the event to the winners of the various competitions held at the NIO. The event was attended by faculty, PhD scholars, and project staff, celebrating the academic spirit and accomplishments of AcSIR.
