Anay Raikar, Shilpa Verlekar, Vinayak Rivankar and Rutvik Nagzarkar excelled in respective categories at the 3rd Daivadnya Carrom Tournament 2023, organised by Akhil Gomantakiya Daivadnya Brahmin Youth Association (AGDBYA) and Ponda Daivadnya Brahman Samaj with support by Goa Carrom Association; on Sunday, 6th August at Daivadnya Hall, Ponda.
The competition was held in four categories – men (15-49 years), women (15 years & above), veterans (50 years & above) and kids (below 15 years) with 120 entries in total.
Prashil Salkar, President of AGDBYA and Deepak Lotlikar, President of Ponda Daivadnya Samaj welcomed the guests.
In his address, Prashil said that AGDBYA, founded in 2009, always strives to bring our community together by organising various activities such as Health camps, Career guidance camps, Sports events etc. “AGDBYA also provides helping hands to our needy students by giving them books, fees and other educational help”, he added.
Chief Guest of the function, Rajendra Anant Haldankar, Asst. Director, Fire & Emergency Service, Goa, thanked the organisers for putting together this impressive event and professionalism shown. He also added that such kind of events, enable our local players to showcase their skills and talents, contributing to youth’s progress.
Chief Guest Rajendra Anant Haldankar gave away the prizes along with Sneha Kadnekar, President-Ponda Daivadnya Mahila Mandal, Deepak Lotlikar, President-Ponda Daivadnya Samaj and Prashil Salkar (President-AGDBYA).
AGDBYA also felicitated Dr. Saurabh Raikar for achieving the remarkable feat of becoming the youngest PhD. in Engineering from Goa University.
Suresh Rivankar compered the prize distribution ceremony. The event concluded with AGDBYA Secretary, Rohit Vernekar thanking the participants, volunteers, spectators, guests, referees, sponsors and all the helping hands that made this tournament a great success.
