PANAJI: Sunny CC scored a 37-run victory over Saibaba SC in Panjim Gymkhana’s Bandodkar Trophy (knock-out) cricket tournament at PG ground, Campal.
Saibaba SC won the toss and elected to bowl. Their bowlers did a decent job as Saibaba restricted their rivals to 195 all out in 41.4 overs. Sanket Morajkar (64 runs) played a key role for Sunny making a substantial score while other seven players got starts but failed to convert them into a notable effort, Chandrakant Ghadi (28) being one of them.
Saibaba’s Sunil Sinari, Aniket Parab and Uddesh Gawas picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Saibaba SC were all out for 158 in 35.4 overs. Abhijeet Sinari (38), Kishor Sinari (37) and Aniket Parab (28) tried to keep their team in the hunt but the batting unit failed to fire collectively.
Sunny CC bowlers Sanket Morajkar (3/22),
Siddesh Verekar (3/23) and Mayur Nadkarni (3/24) tasted handsome success as they kept pegging back their rivals.
