BHAVINA PATEL CREATES HISTORY, ENSURES FIRST-EVER TABLE TENNIS MEDAL FOR INDIA AT PARALYMPICS

PANAJI: Bhavina Patel has ensured the first medal for India at Tokyo 2020 Paralympics as the para-paddler stormed into the semi-finals of the Class 4 category. It is India’s first-ever table tennis medal at the Paralympics and whether the 34-year-old can change its colour, the country will wait to see with bated breath!

Paralympic Committee of India president Deepa Malik hailed the performance by wheelchair athlete Bhavina.

Bhavina will face China’s M. Zhang in the semi-final tomorrow at 6:10 AM (IST). Earlier in the quarter-final, the player from Gujarat scored 3-0 (11-5, 11-6, 11-7) victory over Serbia’s Borislava Rankovic Peric to advance to the semis. It was a brilliant performance by Bhavina today to ensure a historic medal by making it to the last-four stage.
