PANAJI: Ritika Chelluri, Harsh Mane, Sriya Saraf, Sakshi K, Aryan Kumar and Aryaman Saraf won double crowns each, at the BPS State Sub-Junior and Junior Ranking Badminton tournament organised by BPS Sports Club in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa.
Nishant Shenai and Nidhi Desai emerged Under-19 Boys and U-19 Girls singles winners while Under-17 singles titles were clinched by Anish Kamath and Sriya Saraf. In Under-15 singles, Harsh Mane edged out Yash Desai to claim his third consecutive title of the season.
Sakshi K similarly won her third consecutive title of the season, emerging victorious in U-15 Girls singles. Ritika Cheluri likewise won her third title in U-13 Girls singles while Aarush Pawaskar won the U-15 Boys singles title. Others who emerged winners in the various categories held at Navelim Sports complex were Sagun Singh, Advait Balakrishnan, Parasmay Shenoy, Jiya Kamat, Yash Desai, Ashmeet Parsekar, Nyssa Dhupdale, Synnovia D’ Souza, Chetan Magdum and Minoshka Pereira. Salil Deshpande, Janhavi Virnodkar, Rajas Khadeparkar, Aarya Metri, Ansh Chaurasia, Shaurya Naik and Priyanka Karcal were awarded promising player prizes in the State Ranking tournament powered by Adidas Badminton and Parama Heartbeat Sports.
In the seniors category events, Karan Dhavaskar and Oscar Silveira emerged men’s non-ranking and veteran’s 50+ winners respectively. Tejan Fallary / Sunny Sawant lifted men’s non-ranking doubles title while Chinmay Fallary / Oscar Silveira emerged veterans 50+ doubles winners. Digambar Kamat, Margao MLA, graced the finals along with BPS Sports Club functionaries Santosh George (President), Yogiraj Kamat (Secretary), Audhut Kare (Chairman, General Body), Voluciano Dourado (co-ordinator) and GBA office-bearers Narahar Thakur (President), Sandeep Heble (Secretary) amongst others.
