Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the newly-constructed Panchayat building in Cauvrem, Pirla (Sanguem) on Sunday.
Minister for Social Welfare Subhash Phal Dessai, Panchayat Minister, Mauvin Godinho, MLA of Cumbharjua, Rajesh Faldessai and other dignitaries were present.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sawant said: “Swayampurna village will ultimately lead to the target of Swayampurna Goa. If the Village Panchayat is housed in a proper building, the village can be developed in a better way.”
The Cauvrem, Pirla VP building comprises a Multipurpose Hall, office enclosures and shops.
“While the shops will help the Panchayat draw in regular income, the Multipurpose Hall will meet the educational and skilling needs of children and women in particular,” added the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, Eco-Tourism & Nature Education Park at Forest Garden, Salaulim Dam, Sanguem, is the visionary upcoming project supported by funding from NITI Aayog’s “60 Years of Liberation of Goa” initiative, reflecting a harmonious blend of development and preservation.
The foundation stone-laying ceremony was graced by CM Dr. Pramod Sawant, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai. Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar, Chairman of GTDC, and Dr. Deviya V. Rane, Chairperson of GFDC, were also present.
The Eco-Tourism & Nature Education Park at Forest Garden, Salaulim Dam, Sanguem, stands as a testament to Goa’s dedication to sustainable development. This initiative envisions an immersive space where visitors can reconnect with nature, learn about the environment, and contribute to conservation efforts.
