Central Bureau of Communication-Goa (CBC Goa) and Department of Sainik Welfare, Government of Goa, jointly organised a momentous event under the banner of the ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign today at Bambolim, Goa.
The heartening initiative, with its tagline ‘Mitti ko naman, veeron ka vandan’, is a nationwide effort led by the people to mark the commemoration of 75 years of India’s independence. Known as ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh,’ this campaign signifies the culmination of the ‘Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme. The campaign celebrates the myriad achievements of the nation while paying a heartfelt tribute to the valiant heroes who safeguard our homeland.
As a part of the programme, the CBC Goa took the honour of felicitating war widows and war mothers, recognising their immense sacrifices. Furthermore, around 300 National Flags were distributed to the public as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ program, symbolising unity and patriotism.
The event was graced by the presence of Vice Admiral S K Damle, PVSM, AVSM, NM, VSM (Retd), who served as the distinguished guest of honour. Col. Venugopal Nair, Secretary of the Department of Sainik Welfare, and Riyas Babu, Publicity Officer of CBC Goa, were also present to commemorate the occasion.
‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign entails a series of actions aimed at fostering a strong bond with our nurturing Earth and paying tribute to our brave defenders. The actions include the dedication of Shilaphalakam, the taking of the Panch Pran Pledge, the creation of an Amrit Vatika with 75 saplings of indigenous trees in Vasudha Vandan, honouring freedom fighters and heroes with Veeron Ka Vandan, and the uplifting act of hoisting the National Flag and singing the National Anthem.
In a remarkable gesture, mitti (soil) collected from villages across India will be brought together at the block level and eventually transported to Delhi. Volunteers from each block will assemble at Kartavya Path, where an Amrit Vatika will be constructed using the soil contributed from all corners of the country.
‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign is a poignant reminder of our commitment to the land that nurtures us and a heartfelt tribute to those who protect our nation’s sovereignty. The event held in Bambolim, Goa, beautifully resonated with the spirit of unity and pride that the campaign represents.
