CHIEF MINISTER DR. PRAMOD SAWANT FEELS THE NEED FOR ART & CULTURE POLICY TO GROOM FUTURE ARTISTES

Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant highlighted the need of formulating a policy to tap young talents in the field of Art and Culture. He was addressing the gathering after presenting the State Cultural Awards,Yuva Srujan Puraskar, Best Cultural Institution, Best Library Award 2023.

The awards function was organised by Directorate of Art & Culture in Panaji. Secretary for Art & Culture,  Swetika Sachan, IAS; Director, Directorate Art & Culture, Sagun Velip; renowned Marathi actor, Madhura Velankar Satam were also present.

Dr Sawant suggested that the veteran awardees need to be consulted and a policy made in order to train taluka-wise school students in multiple performing arts disciplines to set them on their way to being future artistes. “Teachers deputed by the Art and Culture Department can be brought together so that students can get comprehensive  knowledge of musical instruments, bhajan, theatre,” stated the Chief Minister.

The recipients of Goa State Cultural Award 2023-24 are as follows: Naresh Kadkade (Theatre); Shaileshchandra Raikar, Tukaram Shet, Fr Manuel Gomes, Vithal Gawas (all Literature); Hortencio Pereira & Meninio Fernandes (both Tiatr); Shivrai Fondekar, Pradeep Shilkar, Shridhar Barve (all Indian classical music); Dnyaneshwar Wadji (Fine Art), Ulhas Palni (Bhajan). Best Cultural Institution: Kala Shuklendu Panaji; Best Library: Shree Saraswati Vachanalaya, Madel-Thivim.

Boosting the morale of talented youth, who are carrying forward the legacy of Goa being a nursery of multidisciplinary artistes; Yuva Srujan Puraskar were conferred on Nivedita Chandroji (Drama), Sanjay Kurtikar (Folk Art), Dashrath Naik (Music), Anwesha Singbal (Literature), Anant Kamat Bambolkar (Fine Art/Drama), Valency D’Souza (Tiatr).
