CHIEF MINISTER DR PRAMOD SAWANT PRESENTS GOA BUDGET 2024-25,  IMA GOA STATE BRANCH HAPPY WITH ALLOCATION FOR HEALTHCARE SECTOR

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant presented the Goa Budget for the year 2024-25, on Thursday.

The total scale of the budget is Rs. 26,855 crores of which revenue expenditure is Rs. 20,000 crores and Capital expenditure is Rs. 6,855 crores. The other highlights of the Goa Budget 2024-25 are:

• Revenue surplus of Rs. 1,704 crores, Fiscal Deficit of Rs. 3,149 crores
• GSDP is expected to grow at 13.87% in FY 2024-25.

The Chief Minister stated that the Goa Budget is focussed on the vision of Antyodaya, Sarvodaya, Gramodaya, along with sustained continuity in Swayampurna Goa. “The Budget is for the allround development of Goa towards the vision of #ViksitBharatViksitGoa2047,” he posted on his social media.

INDIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION GOA STATE BRANCH ‘HAPPY’

A total of Rs. 2121 crores, has been allocated to the state health department for the year 2024-25, which is approximately 8% of total expenditure and is higher then any other state in India. The average allocation of other states in the country is less then 6 %. Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, has seen tremendous growth for past few years under the able leadership of Chief Minister and Health Minister of the state, new advances in medical treatment like Robotic Surgery, Virus Research and Diagnostic Lab, Trans catheter aortic valve implementation for serious cardiology ailments have been initiated a total of Rs. 890.25 CR have been earmarked for expenditure and Rs.181.10 CR has been designated for upgradation of medical infrastructure, Rs. 1071.35 CR have been allocated to GMC, stated a press release by Indian Medical Association Goa State Branch.

“State has planned implementation of National Emergency life support skill centres under the central government schemes to upgrade human resources in live saving. Directorate of Health Services has seen robust growth in all spheres, with a healthy allocation of Rs. 837.47 CR, the overall growth of DHS will see 50 bedded AYUSH integrated hospital, Adolescent Anaemia, Mother and child health schemes under national AYUSH mission AYUSH ophthalmic OPD shall be soon available for
benefit of citizens. There are plans of Proposed reconstruction and upgradation of Primary Health
Centres at Betki, Candolim, Porvorim, Marmugoa, Curtorim, Quepem thereby increasing accessibility and availability of quality healthcare to Goans.

Goa Dental College and Hospital Bambolim, the premium dental institute of the state has been allocated Rs. 75 CR for various expenditures.
IPHB, a flagship government medical facility serving the needs to mentally challenged and psychiatric patients has been allocated Rs. 82 CR, government has plans to set-up day care centres for mentally disabled patients along with various  other welfare schemes. We at IMA Goa State are happy with the budget specifically to healthcare sector,” mentioned the press release.
