Churchill Brothers have been declared the champions of I-League 2024-25 season after the All India Football Federation ‘Appeals Committee’ announced its order on the appeal by Namdhari Football Club, on Saturday.

Churchill had topped the I-League standings with 40 points from 22 matches. Inter Kashi, who have finished second with 39 points, had been hoping that the appeal would go in their favour and they will get 3 more points to be crowned champions.

It may be recalled that Kashi were initially given three points by the AIFF disciplinary committee since Namdhari were adjudged to have fielded an ineligible player in their match played on 13th January, with the Punjab-based club winning 2-0. The appeals committee had, however, stayed that decision and suspense had reached pinnacle with Churchill and Kashi claiming title victory following their last respective outing of the season.

The suspense is now over with two-time champions Churchill Brothers deservingly embracing their third triumph in I-League and sealing their promotion into the top-flight Indian Super League for the first time.
