The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Goa Institute of Management (GIM), conducted a week-long residential workshop “Classroom to Job” from 25th to 29th May 2026 at the GIM campus, Poriem, Sattari, Goa.
A total of 106 students from five Government general colleges across Goa participated. Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce from Sanquelim, Quepem, Khandola; students from Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem and Government of Goa’s Autonomous College of Multidisciplinary Studies & Research, were represented at the programme – that aimed at enhancing employability skills and industry readiness among second and third year Commerce under-graduate students.
The culmination ceremony was held in the presence of Bhushan Saviokar, Director DHE, Dr. Niyan Marchon, Program Director & Professor, DHE and Prof. N. Parameswaran, Programme Director and Professor, GIM, along with TIP faculty coordinators from five Government Colleges, officials of the Directorate of Higher Education, and faculty members of the Goa Institute of Management.
The guests highlighted the importance of industry-oriented learning and outlined the sessions planned during the programme, including Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI, communication skills, Excel for business applications, taxation, accounting fundamentals, economics, and legal aspects of business. The students were encouraged to actively participate and make the best use of the opportunity.
The workshop, included interactive sessions, hands-on training, finance lab demonstrations, and practical learning activities aimed at bridging the gap between classroom education and professional expectations.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Niyan Marchon, Ainsley Bernard and Bhomkar Prashant from the Directorate of Higher Education and Prof. N. Parameswaran, Abhijit Patil, Pradeep Matatil, Alvina Rodrigues from GIM and others.
