CREATE IMMERSIVE ART EXPERIENCES IN THE HEART OF PANAJI: SERENDIPITY ARTS ANNOUNCES OPEN CALL

0

Artists, who want to showcase their boundless creativity and artistic vision in the heart of Panaji city, are invited to submit their proposals for the recent open call for the ‘Panjim Cube Project’ announced by Serendipity Arts.

Five to eight artists will be selected to let their imagination and ingenuity take centre stage. Creative practitioners of all ages, across the country, are eligible to apply via the open call, the deadline for which is June 30, 2024. The selected artworks will be displayed during the upcoming ninth edition of the Serendipity Arts Festival (SAF), from December 15 to 22, 2024.

Under the guidance of artist duo Thukral and Tagra, co-curators of the Visual Arts discipline for SAF 2024, artists are invited to envision an immersive experience inspired by the spirit of Gutai. This Japanese avant-garde art movement, which highlights individuality, blurs the lines between art and everyday life by presenting energetic, radical approaches to artmaking in all its forms.

Delhi-based artist duo Jiten Thukral and Sumir Tagra aim to bring Gutai to the streets of Panaji. Taking inspiration from practitioners of Gutai, namely iconic Gutai artist Tsuruko Yamazaki’s work ‘Red Cube’ (1956), artists are called to create a personalised artistic space inside an 8x8x8 feet cube, suspended mid-air.

Artists can imagine the cube drenched in colours of their choice and crafted from materials that align with their artistic vision, inviting passers-by to step inside, interact, engage with and explore the intersection of art and life in the city of Panaji.
