The newly-inaugurated Solid Waste Management facility at Curchorem, will help resolve garbage issue faced by four talukas in South Goa.
It will primarily cater to rural and urban population of Quepem, Sanguem, Dharbandora and Canacona talukas.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Integrated Solid Waste Management facility at Curchorem.
The Solid waste management facility has been built at a cost of Rs.173.98 Crore. It is based on Recycle & Sorting Line, Segregation, Bio-methanation and Composting.
The Solid Waste Treatment & Management plant with the capacity of 100 tons per day shall enhance the capacity of treating waste in the State.
Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the permanent facilities for National Institute of Water Sports at Dona Paula, North Goa.
The facility shall enhance the capacity of the institute to train and create employment opportunities for youth in the Water Sports sector at the national and international level.
