DARSH PAI MOVES INTO U-18 & U-14 SEMIS; RAJARAM FIGHTS BACK TO SEAL QUARTERS BERTH: TNS-PANJIM GYMKHANA ALL-GOA TENNIS

Rajaram Kundaikar continued his fantastic run and entered the men’s singles quarter-finals, while young Darsh Pai moved into the last-four stage in the U-18 and U-14 boys events at the 1st TNS Jewellers Panjim Gymkhana all-Goa tennis tournament at Panjim Gymkhana courts on Thursday.

Rajaram, who stunned Anurag Agrawal in the previous round, staged a superb fightback to overcome Cherian Joseph 7-5 in the pre-quarters.

Rajaram, who trailed 3-5, brought all his experience into play and won four games on the trot to progress into the last-eight stage.

Another fierce competitor in the men’s singles event, Nagesh Naik was in command all along as he brushed off the challenge of Prajat Halarnkar 6-1 to enter the quarters.

Darsh Pai booked a spot in the U-14 semi-finals with a 6-0 win against spirited eight-year-old Devansh Naik.

Also progressing into the U-18 last-4 round was Darsh, who beat Kyan Mavany 6-3 in the quarter-final. Joining Darsh there was Kabir Gadre, who saw off the challenge from Gaurang Nerulkar 6-1.

In the girls events, Ahana Kumar got the better of Sara Trivedi 6-2 before Vidhi scored an easy 6-2 win over Anika and stormed into the semis.

Results: Men’s Singles – Suraj Sadanah beat Anant Kochhar 6-0, enters QF; Ravaru Dixit beat Ganesh Pai 6-0, enters QF; Santosh Gorawar beat Tanay Amonkar 6-2, enters QF; Tejas Shevde beat Jai Gill 6-0, enters QF. U-14 girls: Bhaavya Bhoomkar beat Lucy Viegas 6-1.
