The inaugural edition of DB Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Open tennis tournament, drew to a conclusion at Panjim Gymkhana courts on Sunday night. The tournament was organised by Panjim Gymkhana under the aegis of Goa State Tennis Association. Part of the event was also staged at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar.
Over 140 participants in the state ranking tournament, showed that tennis is on its way up in Goa. The count has been boosted by the marked increase in tennis courts including in the Housing complexes, and development of coaches across the state.
With summer holidays now on, initiatives like Tennis clinics for newcomers, wannabe coaches/ umpires will also augur well for the growth of the sport.
