The Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, will organise a Regional Workshop under the DISHA (Designing Innovative Solutions for Holistic Access to Justice) 2.0 Scheme on September 21, 2026, at the University Auditorium of the India International University of Legal Education & Research, South Goa, from 10:30 a.m. onwards.
The workshop will focus on strengthening access to justice through technology-enabled legal services, legal awareness and pro bono legal assistance. It will bring together representatives of the Central and State Governments, Common Service Centres, Ministry of Rural Development, law institutions and other stakeholders working to make legal services more accessible to citizens.
The programme is expected to be attended by the Governor of Goa as Chief Guest, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Government of India, and the Minister for PWD, Captain of Ports and Legal Metrology, Government of Goa.
A key feature of the workshop will be the showcase of the best reels created under the “Nyaya Prabodh: Awakening to Justice – Know Your Rights in 90 Seconds” campaign. A Slogan Competition under Nyaya Prabodh will also be launched during the programme. The initiatives seek to promote awareness among citizens about their constitutional and legal rights in a simple and engaging manner.
The workshop will also feature a documentary on the achievements of DISHA 2.0 in Goa, followed by interactions with beneficiaries of Tele-Law, panel lawyers, Village Level Entrepreneurs and Nyaya Sahayaks.
The interactions will highlight how technology-enabled legal services are helping citizens, particularly those living in remote and underserved areas, connect with legal assistance.
Another session will focus on the Nyaya Bandhu Pro Bono Legal Services Programme, with students and faculty members of law institutions in Goa participating in the interaction. The session will highlight the role of legal education institutions and young legal professionals in promoting pro bono legal services.
The dignitaries will address the gathering on legal empowerment, citizen-centric justice delivery and the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure equal access to justice. Through initiatives such as Tele-Law, Nyaya Bandhu, Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Programmes and VIDHI-Sanjeevani, the Department of Justice is working towards making legal services more accessible, understandable and affordable for citizens.
The workshop will provide an opportunity for various stakeholders in Goa to share experiences and discuss ways to further strengthen access to justice at the grassroots level.
