DON BOSCO COLLEGE PANJIM TO MEET D.M’S COLLEGE IN WOMEN’S CRICKET FINAL

Don Bosco College, Panjim, will clash with D.M’S College, Assagao, in the final of inter-college women’s cricket championship 2022-23 organised by Goa University. The title clash is scheduled for 17th April at 9:30 am at University ground, Taleigao Plateau.

In the semi-finals today, Don Bosco College defeated Narayan Zantye by 46 runs before D.M’s College thrashed Shree Damodar College, Margao, by 127 runs.

Electing to bat, Don Bosco College scored a mammoth 173/3 in 20  overs with Anita Choudhary playing a fantastic knock of unbeaten 55 runs off 54 balls. Vaishnavi Prabhu contributed 22 runs off 16 balls. Zantye college bowlers Nauf Shaikh and Princy Chari took one wicket each.

In reply, Zantye college were restricted to 127/8 in 20 overs (Vinisha Naik-24(26), Sutlaj Parab-21(18); Aniksha Morajkar-2/19, Arpita Sawant- 2/26).

Later, D.M’s College put out the highest total of the championship after electing to bat first and posted 205/4 in 20 overs. Goa  cricketer Metali Gawander gave a masterclass in batting as she powered her way to 100 runs off 56 balls, while one of the shining stars at recent Goa Women’s Premier League – all-rounder Poorva Bhaidkar played superbly for her 45 runs off 28 runs, and later took five wickets.

Shree Damodar College’s Maishree Bandodkar picked up 2/38, while Uma Pandit got 1/23.

In reply, Shree Damodar College managed 78/9 in 20 overs (Vibhavi Vaigankar-10(21), Uma Pandit-8(33); Poorva Bhaidkar–5/11, Savitri Kumavat-1/7).
