St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, won both the men and women’s titles in inter-college hockey championships 2022-23, organised by Goa University at Dayanand Bandodkar Krida Sankool, Peddem-Mapusa.
In the men’s championship final, St. Xavier’s College thrashed Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye, Government College of Arts and Commerce, Pernem, 5-0.
In the women’s championship final, St. Xavier’s College trounced Rosary College of Commerce and Arts, Navelim, 5-0.
Earlier in the semi-finals of the women’s section, Rosary College routed Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women, Nuvem, 7-0. St. Xavier’s College defeated Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Quepem, 5-0.
In the men’s semi-finals, Government College, Pernem, defeated Government College, Quepem, 5-0. St. Xavier’s College beat SV’s Sridora Caculo College Of Commerce and Management Studies, Mapusa, 5-1
In all, 11 men’s and 5 women’s teams participated in the four-day Inter-College Hockey Championship held from 21st to 24th February, 2023.
Victor Albuquerque, hockey coach at Sports Authority of Goa, was the chief guest and presented medals and trophies.
