DURGA MOTORS OPEN RAPID FIDE RATING CHESS: RITVIZ PARAB BAGS TITLE, MANDAR LAD IS RUNNER-UP, BHAKTI KULKARNI FINISHES THIRD

International Master Ritviz Parab won Durga Motors Open Rapid Rating Chess Tournament 2024 at Dr. K B Hedgewar High School Cujira-Bambolim. He scored  8.5  points out of 9 rounds and remained undefeated in the tournament.

Mandar Lad emerged runner-up with a tally of 8 points. IM Bhakti Kulkarni finished third with a score of 7.5 points. Nikam  Ravindra (4th), Karthik Muchandi (5th) and Mayuresh Desai (6th) all had 7.5 points each but varying tie-breaks.

Other prize-winners (7th to 15th place) are as follows: IM Nitish Belurkar, Kanishk Sawant, Reuben Colaco, Chaitanya Gaonkar, Brendan Peroz, Sairudra Nagvekar, Datta Kambli, Aryan Raikar, Sachin Gaude; Above-40 years: Bezstrakhov Dmitry and Vallon Fernandes. Category Prize winners in U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 Boys & Girls: Prayank Gaonkar, Evan Telles, Narayan Prabhu, Vihaan Tari, Aryan Naik, Rishit Gawas, Shubh Borkar, Vipul Kadam, Aaryavrat Naik Desai, Anish Borkar, Hriday Morajkar, Sarvang Pagi,  Atharva Sawal, Sahil Shetty, Ayush Naik, Trisha Patekar, Viyomi Parab, Shivanya Rao, Avani Sawaikar, Vania Dukle, Shinel Rodrigues, Ksyla Rodrigues, Vasarhelyi Szurina, Diya Naik, Vaishnavi Parab, Navya Narvekar, Siddhi Naik, Sayyed Mahdiya, Saima Gaonkar and Aarvi Naik.

The Tournament was organised by the Rotary Club of Porvorim in association with Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association under the auspices of the Goa Chess Association and the All India Chess Federation.

Prizes were distributed at the hands of chief guest Rtn Ashok Sapra; in the presence of Rtn Umesh Naik, President of Rotary Club Porvorim; Ashesh Keni, Secretary of Goa Chess Association; Rtn Sandeep Bharne,  Chief Arbiter Arvind Mhamal, Rtn Vivek Kerkar, Rtn Dr. Pramod Dabale, Rtn Ryan Costa,  and Rtn Ravi Gupta.
