PANAJI: Entertainment Society of Goa’s Cinephile Film Club will screen Japanese film, ‘After Life’ (Wandafuru Raifu, 1998), directed by the well-known auteur, Hirokazu Koreeda; on Thursday, (21st April), at Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Complex, here at 6.30 pm.
Sachin Chatte will host the screening of ‘After Life’ (Japanese with English subtitles), which is of 1 hour 59 minutes duration.
If you were to choose one memory from your lifetime, what would it be? What is the one memory that you treasure the most? This is the fascinating premise of this wonderful and touching film by Koreeda, who has made a name for himself over the years – his film Shoplifters (2018) won the Palm d’Or and was nominated for an Oscar.
In ‘After Life’, people have a week to decide which memory they would like to keep with them till eternity. Film critic Roger Ebert said, “With this film, Koreeda has earned the right to be considered with Kurosawa, Bergman and other great humanists of the cinema.”
Meanwhile the membership for the film club is now open, and one can visit esg.co.in and register online. The membership is valid from the present day, till March 2023 – states a press release.
