PANAJI: The 44th Chess Olympiad will be hosted by India at Mahabalipuram, Chennai from 28th July to 10th August 2022. To celebrate the occasion, the All India Chess Federation (AICF) has announced a state-level school chess tournament through the respective State Chess Association and with that the opportunity to visit the Olympiad.
Goa Chess Ad-hoc Committee in collaboration with Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association will organise a FIDE rating AICF State Chess selection tournament on June 18th and 19th at Dr. K.B Hedgewar High School, St. Cruz; states a press release.
The reporting time is at 9:30 pm and the tournament will start at 10 am on 18th June. Children below 15 years of age; born on or after 1.1.2007 and studying in up to Class 10 standard, are eligible. Players are required to have AICF registration for the year 2022-2023. . The Champion and Runner-Up as well as the best player will get a chance to visit the Olympiad and also to interact with grandmasters and other elite participants through simuls, lectures etc. Details can be obtained from Sachin Arolkar 9822126890.
