FINANCIAL INCLUSION SCHEMES: 165 GRAM PANCHAYATS COVERED IN GOA

As part of the three-month saturation campaign of financial inclusion schemes, a camp was conducted under the initiative of State Bank of India in association with Bank of Maharashtra at Village Panchayat, Cumbharjua, Tiswadi Taluka in North Goa, on 09.09.2025.

The function was chaired by Rajesh Phaldessai, MLA of Cumbharjua Constituency along with Neelam Agrawal, Director of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Government of India.

Addressing the gathering, Phaldessai requested all the people gathered to enrol for the schemes so as to achieve 100 percent saturation in Cumbharjua Panchayat. “This will gradually enable us to realise the dream of Viksit Bharat 2047,” he said.

Agrawal highlighted the RBI’s role in spreading financial literacy and prevention of digital frauds. She appealed to the villagers to submit their KYC to the banks so that the banking facilities are delivered seamlessly. “This will also help in receiving the DBT transfers online,” she said and added that as on date, 165 Gram Panchayats have been covered in Goa for saturation of Jansuraksha Schemes of PMJDY, PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY and re-verification of KYC.

The other dignitaries present at the event were Sachin Gawde, Sarpanch of Cumbharjua Gram Panchayat; Pundalik Khorjuvenkar, Additional Collector, North Goa District; Prabhakar Jha, Regional Director, RBI Goa; Sandeep Dharkar, GM, NABARD; Daya Shankar, DGM, SBI LHO Mumbai;  Anand Dingankar Regional Head of Bank of Maharashtra.

Earlier, Shailendra Mishra, DGM, SBI Panaji, welcomed the dignitaries and urged the villagers to take up maximum benefit of the campaign and enrol themselves for the schemes. The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from the villagers. The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Carlos Rodrigues, AGM, SBI, Panaji.
