Minister for Forest, Vishwajit Rane has hailed the Marine Range staff for commendable work as Goa set a record of 104 nests of Olive Ridley Turtles.
Rane emphasised on the hands-on training provided by research assistants from the esteemed Wildlife Institute of India as the key towards the government’s relentless pursuit of fostering successful nesting for Olive Ridley Turtles.
“Since December 2023, our dedicated Marine Range team has vigilantly guarded the nesting sites for olive Ridley turtles in North Goa, resulting in a record-breaking 104 nests. This remarkable achievement has led to a total of 1996 eggs laid by these precious creatures, underscoring our commitment to protecting marine biodiversity and preserving our natural heritage,” posted Rane on his social media.
