FRIENDSHIP SERIES: GOA BLIND CRICKET TEAM TAKES UNASSAILABLE LEAD OVER MAHARASHTRA

PANAJI: Goa Blind Cricket Team has taken an unassailable lead in the ongoing 3-match ‘Friendship Series’ against Maharashtra in Nagpur. Goa lead 2-0 after winning both the matches.

In the opening match, Goa scored 153/2 in reply to Maharashtra’s 152/6. Ashitosh Mawaskar scored 55 runs and took 2 wickets in a fantastic all-round show. He was named Man-of-the Match and along with Nilesh Mirgal, who was the top-scorer with 57 runs, ensured that Goa cruised to an emphatic 8-wicket victory.

In the second match, Goa won by 6 runs. Goa posted a total of 117/6. Nilesh top-scored with 43 runs and was adjudged Man-of-the Match. Goa captain Akshay Borikar contributed 26 runs. In reply, Maharashtra scored 111/5.

Goa captain Borikar was felicitated at the inaugural function in the presence of Milagris D’Costa, President of Goa Blind Welfare Association, and L H Khapekar, General Secretary of Rashtriy Drishtihin Shikshan Punarvasan Saunstha-Nagpur. The third and final match will be played tomorrow.
