Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, presided over a meeting to review the preparations ahead of the G20 meetings scheduled to start from Monday, April 17. The meeting was attended by various government officials and officers responsible for carrying out different aspects of the preparations. Sanjit Rodrigues, the Nodal Officer (G20), was also present, states a press release.
During the meeting, several important aspects related to the preparations were discussed. These included power infrastructure, aesthetics lighting of monuments, civil works under GSIDC, civil infrastructure works under PWD, food testing by FDA, medical cover under the directorate of health, transportation under KTC, internet connectivity by the Department of IT and communication, cultural components by the Art and Culture Department, waste management by GWMC, and liaison officers under the Protocol department.
In addition, other important matters were also reviewed during the meeting. These included delegates’ bags, souvenirs, staff and office space, communication strategy, excursions for the delegates, beautification of roads, city sprucing, and smart city works.
Officers and officials responsible for these various aspects of the preparations were present during the meeting included: Omvir Singh, IPS, IGP, Nodal Officer Security Co-ordination; Shreyas D Silva, Under Secretary Protocol, OSD (Protocol); Ashok Parab, Dy. Director, Art & Culture, OSD (Culture); Eduardo Pereira, EE-II, PWD, Panaji, OSD (Civil Improvements); Arun Patil, EE, Div-I Electrical, Panaji, OSD (Power) G20; Vivek Parsekar, Municipal Engineer, OSD (City Sprucing); Laximikant Vaigankar, GM (Transport), OSD (Transport); Gavin Dias, GM (Hotels), OSD (Hospitality); Deepak Narvekar, DGM (Marketing), OSD (Branding); Anil Dalal, Manager Travel Division, OSD (Tours), and Dr. Kedar Raikar, Nodal Officer Ayushman Bharat, Digital India, DHS, Nodal Officer (Health) were all present during the meeting.
The preparations for the G20 meetings are being taken very seriously by the Government of Goa, and no effort is being spared to ensure that everything is in order. The officials responsible for the different aspects of the preparations are working tirelessly in tandem with other departments to ensure that everything is in place and that the meetings run smoothly.
