PANAJI: Ayaan Sheikh, Anuj Vernekar , Anish Kamath and Nishant Shenai have moved into the semi-finals in Junior Boys (U19) Singles category, at the All Goa Major Ranking Badminton Tournament being played at Indoor stadium, Campal, Panaji.
On the inaugural day of the first ranking tournament of the season which has been organised by Sunlite Sports and Cultural Club in collaboration with the Goa Badminton Association (GBA), Anuj Vernekar upset Aryaman Saraf in the quarter-finals to move into his maiden semi-finals at the State-level.
In the other quarter-finals matches, Anish Kamath defeated Chetan Magdum, Nishant Shenai put it across Yash Halarnkar while Ayaan Sheikh outplayed Achilles Fernandes to seal their berths in the last four. In Junior Girls (U-19) quarter finals, Janahav Mahale beat Aahana Nayak, Sriya Saraf defeated Rifa Sheikh, Riya Haldankar edged past Janhavi Virnodkar while Nidhi Desai defeated Dhiti Lotlikar to move into the semi-finals.
In Sub-Junior Boys (U17) quarter-finals, Harsh Mane beat Pranav Naik, Anish Kamat beat Vedant Chauhan, Yash Desai beat Chiraag Mahale and Aryan Kumar beat Shaheen C.K to qualify for the semi-finals. In sub-Junior Girls U 17 quarter-finals, Tanushri Shadani beat Atmaja Shetti, Pratistha Shenoy beat Aarohi Coutancar, Sakshi K beat Rashmi Pinge and Nidhi Desai beat Sanvi Kelekar to move into the semi-finals.
