GOA BECOMES FIRST STATE TO LAUNCH SKILL TRAINING CENTRES UNDER PM VISHWAKARMA YOJANA

Union Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Rajeev Chandrasekhar alongwith Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant launched ten Skill Training Centres under PM Vishwakarma Yojana in Goa.

Goa also became the first State to launch the first batch and centres of PM Vishwakarma Yojana. The function was organised by Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

The Government signed various MoUs between Directorate Skill Development & Directorate of Higher Education and also with various industries involved in IT sector & Skill Management to impart trainings to youths of Goa.

Environment Minister, Aleixo Sequeira, MLA, Digambar Kamat, MLA, Ulhas Tuenkar, Rajya Sabha MP,  Sadanand Shet Tanavade,  Secretary, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, NRI Commissioner, Narendra Sawaikar and others were present.

Under ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojana’, ‘Guru ka Sanman’ awards were presented to honour ‘Guru’ or ‘Master Craftspeople’, who have significantly contributed to their fields.

PM Vishwakarma Centres in Goa will include ‘Tailor Trade’ at 9 ITIs, ‘Fishing Net-Maker Trade’ at Directorate of Fisheries and ‘Garland-Maker Trade’ at JSS.

The PM Vishwakarma Yojana aims to equip artisans, craftsmen with financial aid, markets and other benefits for development of entrepreneurship. Around 29,000 artisans have enrolled in Goa, which is the first State to complete 100 per cent on-boarding of Gram Panchayats.
