GOA BOYS EMERGE RUNNERS-UP AT NATIONAL TENNIS-BALL CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP

PANAJI: Goa clinched silver medal at the 30th Junior Boys National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship at Balla Stadium, Haridwar-Uttarakhand. Goa lost to Chattisgarh by 5 wickets in the final.

The final was reduced to 4 overs due to rains. Batting first, Goa posted a total of 23/4 in 4 overs. Chattisgarh scored 24/3 in 3.4 overs to win the title. Goa’s Kannayya Gawde bagged the ‘Best bowler’ prize and received a Smart-watch.

Earlier in the semi-final, Goa beat Rajasthan by 13 runs. Batting first, they scored 48/3 with major contributions from Saish Gawde (15) Akshad Naik (10) and Harsh Gala (10). In reply, Rajasthan were restricted to 35/4 as Vijay Halgekar (10/3) proved successful with the ball.
