GOA CRICKET ASSOCIATION: GOA PREMIER LEAGUE 3-DAYERS RETURN AFTER 2 YEARS, AUCTION ON APRIL 11

PORVORIM: Goa Cricket Association will conduct Premier League 2022  comprising three-day matches with six teams being part of the competition. The tournament will begin on April 20 with Panjim Gymkhana and Sanguem (GCA Ground) being the venues. This was one of the major announcements in the press conference addressed by GCA secretary Vipul Phadke at GCA Headquarters here today.

Dempo Cricket Club, Salgaocar Cricket Club, Chowgule Sports Club, Geno, MCC and Karimabad will be in action in the Premier League, which returns after a gap of two years.

Players will be selected on points-based auction basis on April 11. The categories for the players are: Elite A – top cricketers pool,  Elite B – top cricketers from U-19s & U-25s, and Plate Group – U-19s & best from A-Division.

Among other announcements, were the next season’s preparations plans for U-16s and U-19s via open selections, with Google forms being posted and players being invited to fill in the form.

The GCA secretary also revealed that the first of their 8 centres for ‘directional training’, will be launched on April 6 at Sanguem, where Level 1 coach Paresh Padiyar will be in-charge. The programme will be chalked out for a year and ‘accountability’ will be the key. The age-group for the centres is 14-16 and they will be trained around the parametres laid down by Director of Coaching and Cricket Operations, Prakash Mayenkar.  In all, Goa has fresh 13 NCA ‘Level 1’ coaches  and they will be accommodated at the centres, added Phadke.
