Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar launched the Remote Controller for Sectionalizer on 11kv distribution feeder, on Monday.
The mobile messaging facility, which is used to control the Sectionalizer, has been designed and developed by Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Goa College of Engineering in association with Goa Electricity Department, Porvorim.
CEE of Electricity Department, Stephen Fernandes; Director, DTE, Dr. Vivek Kamat, Principal of Goa College of Engineering, Dr. Krupashankara, Head Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Dr. G.R Kunkolienkar and others were also present.
According to information on https://alumni.gec.ac.in/, the product is developed as a part of final year project.
A mobile phone is used to send commands like “status, open and close” via SMS which helps to identify and isolate the faulty line section in very short duration of time. The control is given to the authorised users of Goa Electricity Dept. like Asst. Engineer, Junior Engineer and Lineman.
The user can control and operate sectionalizer remotely and get real time feedback of its status. The other security features regarding operation are also included in the unit, which is said to be useful in reducing interruption time, improve reliability and stability thus helping the Goa Electricity Department economically control the down time of electricity at different work departments.
The product was demonstrated to Sudin Dhavalikar, during installation ceremony of Enexsa Council of Electrical & Electronics Engineering department, Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi, on 8th March, 2023.
